A walking lunar incident.
This orange moon cat is a cosmic liability.
Cast in glowing oranges, ember reds, and warm golden tones, her resin body flickers with suspended sparkle like stardust caught mid-explosion. She fades from fiery sunset hues into softer amber and honeyed yellow, with depth you can get lost in if you stare too long. Which she will notice. And stare back.
At her center sits a visible embedded moon. Loud. Obvious. Unapologetic. This is not a subtle lunar presence. This is a moon that absolutely backs her version of events.
In the moon cats versus mermaid cats skit, she managed to offend the mercats and genuinely believed she’d done nothing wrong. Not misunderstood. Not misquoted. Just confidently incorrect. Her expression says it all. Curious. Bright-eyed. Mildly smug.
Hand-cast and hand-finished, this moon cat is completely one of a kind. Her colors, moon placement, and chaotic personality cannot be replicated, even if you tried. And you probably shouldn’t.
Perfect for collectors who love troublemakers, wild cards, and figures that feel like they might knock something over the second you turn your back.
About These Artisan Resin Cats
- Approximately 4.5 inches tall
- Handmade in Arizona
- Like diamonds, these cats are pressurized to increase clarity
- I sculpted the prototype by hand using polymer clay, then created the mold from silicone rubber. This mold is exclusive to Brutal Sun Art. I’ll only get so many castings before the prototype wears down or breaks
- Each cat must spend at least 9 hours in a pressure pot, which limits how many I can make each week. I’m also a caretaker for a parent with Alzheimer’s, so my studio time is limited
- Every cat receives extensive sanding, painting, and varnishing
- Their tiny eyes are hand-painted under magnification. I developed this skill through years of painting OOAK fashion doll eyes—few artists can paint at this scale with this level of precision
- The foils, alcohol inks, glitters and other found objects used to make these cats yield wildly unpredictable results. As such, each one is OOAK. I cannot make duplicate cats if I tried!
