"The Crystal Dragon"—11"x14" Acrylic Cat Painting on MDF panel

High up on the peaks of the White Ear mountains, it’s said there be dragons. Mind you, the dragons don’t particularly like being discovered. They take great pride in their mystery. That’s why when you catch a glimpse of one, they might look back at you in shock, as if to say, “Oh no! You know I’m real!”

Here, I have painted a stunning crystal dragon caught in just such a pose. This piece started as a digital sketch on my computer before I transferred it to canvas and began painting in a fun, impressionistic style.

Look closely and you can see the original sketch peeking through in various places. In other areas, you will find textures created by my airbrush, alongside moments where I purposefully painted outside the lines. Everything in this piece is perfectly imperfect and boldly captured, like a sudden flash in time.
