"Tortie Purrmaid"—handmade resin mermaid cat figurine

Born of patience, pressure, and a very focused mind.

Meet the tortie purrmaid who almost didn’t make it into the pressure pot.

This resin purrmaid was a feat of timing and nerve. To get that true tortoiseshell flow, I poured alternating layers of inky black and warm cream-orange resin, again and again, coaxing the colors to mingle without turning to mud. It took so long that the resin began to gel mid-process. At that point, it was a race. Mix. Pour. Sprint to the pressure pot like it owed me money.

The result was worth the stress sweat.

Her body carries soft marbled transitions, like smoke and sunset caught underwater. Her tail fades to a translucent fin. Bright green eyes watch everything. She wears blue and gold beadwork, because clearly she’s not subtle and never planned to be.

This is a one-of-a-kind piece. There will not be another exactly like her. Frankly, she nearly broke the laws of time as it is.
