She carries the moon.
This yellow moon cat is less a creature and more a phenomenon.
Cast in highly translucent resin, her body glows like foglit glass, allowing light to pass clean through her form. At her core sits a clearly visible embedded moon, pale and unmistakable. No subtlety here. No metaphor. The moon is present, watching through her just as much as she watches through it.
Her coloring drifts through warm yellow, soft chartreuse, and faint green-gold tones, with fine shimmer suspended like lunar dust. Her blue eyes are calm, focused, and eerily certain. In the moon cats versus mermaid cats skit, she had lines concerning the orange cat—and they landed. When she spoke, it felt less like dialogue and more like gravity asserting itself.
She wears a delicate beaded circlet, framing her face like a quiet coronation.
Hand-cast and hand-finished, this moon cat is entirely one of a kind. Her translucence, internal moon placement, and expression cannot be replicated.
Perfect for collectors who love visible magic, lunar symbolism, and figures that feel more summoned than made.
About These Artisan Resin Cats
- Approximately 4.5 inches tall
- Handmade in Arizona
- Like diamonds, these cats are pressurized to increase clarity
- I sculpted the prototype by hand using polymer clay, then created the mold from silicone rubber. This mold is exclusive to Brutal Sun Art. I’ll only get so many castings before the prototype wears down or breaks
- Each cat must spend at least 9 hours in a pressure pot, which limits how many I can make each week. I’m also a caretaker for a parent with Alzheimer’s, so my studio time is limited
- Every cat receives extensive sanding, painting, and varnishing
- Their tiny eyes are hand-painted under magnification. I developed this skill through years of painting OOAK fashion doll eyes—few artists can paint at this scale with this level of precision
- The foils, alcohol inks, glitters and other found objects used to make these cats yield wildly unpredictable results. As such, each one is OOAK. I cannot make duplicate cats if I tried!
